Buyers go the distance for cheaper homes

How far would the average person move in order to secure a better value home? Chris Piggin travelled 100 miles leaving his rented property in East Grinstead, West Sussex to live in the brand new home he bought at Crest Nicholson’s Vista development in the East Anglian town of Ipswich.

One of the driving factors behind Chris’s decision to move to Ipswich was to secure a better value home within his budget and property values in the region offer just this; according to figures from the Halifax, house prices in East Anglia average £171,506, a 25 per cent saving over the South East where prices are currently averaging £214,480. Living at the development Chris has a number of transport options available to him including the regular train services that run between Ipswich Station and London Liverpool Street in just over an hour or he can commute via car as the A12 is just a short drive from the scheme.

Chris explained: “I was lucky; I wasn’t restricted by location and therefore I was able to take advantage of better property values in an entirely different part of the country. I have been able to move my life to Ipswich with relative ease and the small amount of commuting I need to do for work is made easy as Vista is really well connected. There are also added lifestyle benefits to living at Vista; the development is just a short walk from the town centre and yet I can be out in the countryside within minutes – it really does offer the perfect balance.”

Together with a great location, all homes at Vista have been designed to maximise light and space and the apartments feature contemporary, open plan layouts.
