Strong new home sales on the Isle of Wight

22nd April 2009 Print
Strong new home sales on the Isle of Wight The Isle of Wight’s leading homebuilder has reported a strong sales performance in the first three months of the year, adding to hopes that the worst of the economic news may have passed.

David Wilson Homes says its sales success is down to great locations and products, competitive prices and deals to suit all kinds of buyers.

And with the recent good weather and schemes available to buyers, visitor levels – a reliable indicator of how many people are planning to buy a new home in the next few months – are soaring.

The news comes on top of a number of indicators over the Easter period that the wider economy may have turned a corner.

Bank of England figures showed that mortgage lending had increased by 19 per cent month on month. And the Nationwide Building Society released figures showing that house prices had actually risen – for the first time in 16 months.

“We have seen a strong performance in terms of the number of homes sold and visitors to our sites in the last few months as more and more people realise that now could be the time to buy,” said Mark Docherty, sales director at David Wilson Homes.

“We have a number of ways to help our customers move up the property ladder.

“If you’re a First Time Buyer you could move in for just 70 per cent of the price under the HomeBuy Direct scheme, which we operate in conjunction with the Government’s Homes and Communities Agency.

“And homeowners who want to move to a bigger property can take advantage of our part-exchange service, so they don’t have to worry about finding a buyer for their existing home.”

“We are offering some of our best ever schemes but they can only be available for a limited period and we are fast running out of stock. I’d advise anyone who’s interested in a great new home to come and talk to us soon.”

Current availability at Carisbrooke Grange includes the two-storey Shelburne, priced from £193,995. This traditional home offers a downstairs cloakroom, kitchen/diner, a lounge, en-suite master bedroom, bathroom and two additional bedrooms.

If you are looking for a larger property, the Broadway is a spacious, three-storey townhouse priced from £208,995. The ground floor offers a cloakroom, kitchen/diner, family room and study/bedroom. There is a lounge and en-suite master bedroom on the first floor, and a bathroom and two bedrooms on the second floor.

“Carisbrooke Grange enjoys a convenient and popular position to the west of Newport,” Mark continued. “I would urge prospective buyers to visit us over the Mother’s Day weekend, to see our superb family homes for themselves.”
