Reduce wedding stress with Barratt home-exchange

Graeme and Elaine with Barratt Homes sales negotiator Cheryl Hobbs Moving house and planning a wedding are often reported as the most stressful times in life but for one Gloucestershire couple - who were attempting to do both at once - the upheaval was kept to a minimum thanks to the Barratt Homes home exchange option.

Elaine, 22, and Graeme Holmes, 25, hadn’t considered home exchange before, as they were unsure of how it worked but once Barratt Homes staff explained the simplicity of the process they were sold on the idea.

“The wedding preparations and house hunting has taken up a lot of our time but the home exchange option really took the hassle away from moving and allowed us to relax,” explained Elaine, who works at the Chelsea Building Society headquarters.

The house builder’s part exchange initiative avoids the stress and unpredictability of being part of a property chain and also cuts out estate agents fees. It also enables people to move when they perhaps thought they couldn’t afford to as they can trade up from an existing home to a brand new Barratt property.

Elaine and Graeme, a CNC Operator in engineering, chose the three bedroom Essex design at Grange Court because Elaine said they fell in love with it as soon as they walked in.

“It just felt so homely and we both loved the development as soon as we saw it. It’ll be the perfect wedding present to be able to move in when we get back from our honeymoon,” added Elaine.

Barratt’s home exchange options can be tailored to suit the individual, ranging from buying a client’s existing property to selling it on their behalf.

The Grange Court development is a contemporary mix of two bedroom apartments and two, three, four and five bedroom houses located in Quedgeley, Gloucestershire.

The development is just two miles from the M5 and offers easy access to the A38 too. The new South West Bypass, due to be completed this year, will link the development to the city centre and other major routes around the county.

There is a successful park and ride scheme already in place on the edge of Kingsway, providing a quick and reliable service into Gloucester. A rapid transit bus service is also planned for the whole district.

Gloucester train station is just three miles away offering regular services to London Paddington, Bristol and Reading.

Kingsway will also include two new primary schools, shops, a state-of-the-art health centre for doctors and dentists, a community centre, four football pitches, a cricket pitch with pavilion and several tennis courts.
