Barratt builds football foundations

Barratt is known for creating new communities in the region but the housebuilder has also been laying foundations of a different kind this month - hosting a football training session for ambitious local youngsters.

Barratt is building new developments at Hucclecote and Quedgeley and sponsoring two local football teams as part of its support of the local community.

As a surprise for both teams, the Under 14s from Quedgeley Wanderers FC and Hucclecote Youth Team, Barratt enlisted the help of Cheltenham Town Football Club for a coaching session and friendly match.

"It was great to bring everybody together for the training and hopefully this is helping lay the foundations for the footballers of the future,'' said sales manger Jane Jordan.

Cheltenham Town striker Steven Gillespie, himself a Barratt home owner, was one of the players involved in the event which was held at Waterwells Sports Centre.
