An investment for the future at Equinox

14th May 2009 Print
An investment for the future at Equinox Alan Souter has an eye for a long-term investment opportunity. After seeing the homes on offer at Barratt’s Equinox development in Cheltenham, he decided to buy an apartment for his six-year-old son, Daniel.

“In the future the apartment will provide my son with his first home but, in the meantime, it’s a really good investment,” said Alan (58), a chemistry technician at the local college.

“We did look at apartments in the centre of town but we were attracted to Equinox for a number of reasons. The prices are very reasonable there and it’s easy to find reliable tenants as the development is close to GCHQ, which employs a number of young professionals.

“Our apartment is very spacious, with an open-plan lounge/diner/kitchen and two bedrooms and we already have a tenant,” Alan continued. “Also, Equinox is away from the town centre, so parking is easy, and the motorway is close by, offering easy links to the cities of Gloucester and Bristol.

“I was very impressed with the service provided by Barratt,” he added. “The sales negotiator, Nadine, gave us some excellent advice, which made the whole buying and letting process easier for us.”

When complete, Equinox will offer 44 new homes, a mixture of apartments, town houses and detached houses. Current availability includes three-bedroom townhouses priced from £239,995.

Barratt can offer a number of buyer incentives, including part exchange for people moving up to a larger home and HomeBuy Direct for first-time buyers and key workers. With this new government-backed scheme, buyers only have to secure financing for 70 per cent of the purchase price and no deposit is required. Barratt matches the government’s funding to provide the 30 per cent equity loan.

Equinox lies just 1.5 miles from Junction 11 of the M5 and there are regular services from Cheltenham train station to Swindon, Bristol and London.

Cheltenham has a wealth of shops, theatres, museums, cafes and wine-bars, as well as one of the liveliest music, literary and dance scenes in the south west. The annual Cheltenham Festival is a must for horse racing enthusiasts.
