A taste for the finer things in life

21st March 2008 Print
Redrow has combined sophistication with fun in a classically designed show home to suit the whole family - which launches this weekend. Homebuyers are invited to the award-winning housebuilder’s Cae Rebeca development, in Pontardulais, near Swansea, on Saturday and Sunday (March 29 & 30) to enjoy nibbles and refreshments while they take a look around the chic new show home, with children’s entertainers on hand to keep the little ones amused.

With its mature colour scheme of creams, grape and fresh green, the new show home is heaven for grown-ups who want to relax in a classical property. However, family touches such as the large dining room and beautifully styled children’s bedrooms ensure this is a house everyone will want to make their home.

Rachael Davies, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (South Wales), said: “The ‘Lynton’ show home is a four-bedroom detached home so it will appeal to families. That’s why the design is very much orientated around making a home that the whole family can relax in together, without compromising on style and sophistication.

“The spacious lounge is furnished with dark wood furniture; including a console table, which the children will love. Accents of fresh green and grape have been introduced in the cushion fabrics and sumptuous pinch pleat curtains. A dramatic 10 light pendant provides a striking focal point for the room.

“The family dining area features a large walnut finish table and six chairs, while the colour-scheme is similar to the lounge. There is a further space for the family to dine around the breakfast table in the well-equipped kitchen.

“The master bedroom has the added introduction of a hint of soft pink. Once again drama is added with full-length pleated window dressings, a crystal bead light pendant and a feature wall.

“Gold and cream are utilised in the guest room, while the children’s room is kept light and airy with fresh autumnal colours and simple roman blinds. The fourth bedroom has been transformed into a stylish study with a contemporary glass and chrome chair, round glass table and chrome spotlights.”

The Cae Rebeca venture of 93 new homes has been given a historical name as a reminder of rioters who helped bring an end to political, social and economic injustice in the 19th century.

Rachael added: “Cae Rebeca is a beautiful new collection of homes. It features an excellent choice of our quality-built homes, close to all of the local amenities of Pontardulais and also within easy reach of Swansea and Llanelli. There’s also good access to the M4 for travel to Cardiff.”

The entrance to the scheme on Bolgoed Road lies about a hundred yards from a commemorative monument opposite the Fountain Inn, dedicated to a group known as ‘Rebeca’, who destroyed the controversial Bolgoed toll-gate in 1843.

The toll-gates are long gone and Pontardulais is now a welcoming place for home owners. Local amenities are plentiful, including schools, shops and banks; it’s just eight miles from Swansea and within a short drive of the beautiful scenery of the Gower coastline. For those with children, Pontardulais offers a good choice of schools, both English and Welsh speaking.

Prices range from £119,995 for a one-bedroom mid terrace home, to £299,995 for a five-bedroom, detached home.
