Swansea buyers invited to ‘Challenge Barratt’

Swansea buyers invited to ‘Challenge Barratt’ First time buyers who can’t get onto the property ladder and existing homeowners who think they can no longer afford to move should visit Barratt’s Copper Quarter development in Swansea on Saturday 22nd August from 11am to 4pm when the housebuilder will be hosting a special ‘Challenge Barratt’ event.

With a wide variety of incentive schemes available, the housebuilder is inviting buyers to challenge it to find one that will work for them.

Adrian Bird, sales director at Barratt South Wales, says: “We know many buyers find all the different schemes available for house purchase quite confusing. Our expert sales team will be on hand at our event on 22nd August to explain all the deals available on a range of apartments and houses and to help as many people as possible to make the move to a new home.”

Copper Quarter currently has for sale an excellent choice of one-bedroom iPad apartments, two-bedroom apartments and three-bedroom houses, all with parking.

The development’s location, near The Liberty Stadium, has much to offer buyers, with attractive landscaped areas within the scheme and lovely river walks. Swansea city centre is only a short drive, or there is a Park and Ride bus station close to Copper Quarter with a regular bus service straight to the city centre. The train station at Swansea is around a mile from the development; Swansea Airport is around six and a half miles.

There are various ways to buy at Copper Quarter. With Barratt’s Dream Start scheme purchasers can pick-up the keys to a new home for just 75 per cent of the price. Barratt will pay the other 25 per cent as an interest fee deferred loan for up to 10 years. Mr Bird adds: “This isn’t shared ownership – it’s your home and you own 100 per cent of it, but you only pay 75 per cent of the purchase price now.” The repayment of the 25 per cent is at the market value at the point of resale, transfer, or the end of the 10 year period, whether this is more or less than the original purchase price. Some lenders will even accept Barratt’s 25 per cent share as the deposit.

Barratt is also offering mortgage protection for up to three years, thanks to free insurance with a new home. Barratt will pay the first year’s premium to insure buyers against being unable to make their mortgage payments through no fault of their own. Alternatively, buyers may prefer to have their deposit paid by Barratt, which is available on selected homes.

To help those with an existing home to sell, Barratt is currently offering to buy their old home through its popular Part Exchange scheme. Barratt buys the purchaser’s existing home, enabling the purchaser to buy a new Barratt home. Mr Bird explains: “This takes away the worry of being in a chain and you can even stay in your old home until your new one is ready. With no estate agency fees to pay, or HIP to prepare, you save money too.

“We believe that the combination of very competitive prices and numerous incentive schemes is a winning formula that will help many people make the move to a new home. We hope to see lots of prospective buyers at our event and look forward to finding the right deal to suit their individual needs.”

Prices for one-bedroom iPad apartments are from £89,995, two-bedroom apartments are from £140,000 and three-bedroom houses are from £154,995. The sales and marketing suite at Copper Quarter, Brunel Way, Swansea, West Glamorgan, SA1 7FF is open Sunday to Wednesday and Friday 11am to 6pm, Thursday 1pm to 8pm and Saturday 10am to 5pm.

Barratt is the premier housebuilder in South Wales where it has been building new homes for 30 years. Barratt South Wales works closely with local Housing Associations, in addition to the Welsh Assembly Government, to bring forward opportunities for first-time-buyers and key workers.
