George Wimpey takes top award in house building Oscars

Tommy and colleague Brian Henderson – site manager for Kingsmead in Troon - were also named as two of the Top 10 ‘Seal of Excellence’ winners in Scotland.
Now in its 27th year, Pride in the Job is the only national competition to focus on the site manager’s role in producing high quality new homes. Judging takes place all year round and scores are given across 38 different areas of site management, including technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and leadership and organisational skills.
Tommy has won many NHBC accolades in the past – he’s been a previous Scottish regional winner twice, and he’s also won a ‘Seal of Excellence’. He feels the NHBC Awards help to give industry recognition for exceptional quality and consistent high standards as he explains: “The NHBC Pride in the Job Awards are a brilliant way of recognising the team strength and vision that’s required to deliver a high-quality development.
“I’m personally delighted to win the NHBC Scottish Regional Award this year - it gives me a great degree of pride in what we’ve achieved at this development. The team here at Stewarton has worked exceptionally hard together to create an award-winning place to live in Ayrshire.”
Adding his congratulations, Steven Laurie, production manager for George Wimpey West Scotland adds: “Throughout their careers with George Wimpey both Tommy and Brian have always brought a great drive and energy to their on-site teams. This recognition for both men is a credit to their motivational and energetic management style, and is indicative of how we’re pushing our business forward for 2008.”
