Winners take to The Laurels

14th November 2007 Print
Glasgow’s victory in the race to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games is expected to act as a catalyst to regenerate the East End of the City, and just two days after the announcement in Colombo, Sri Lanka, the ripple effect has already started - with enquires for properties at the Laurels, Barratt West Scotland’s development situated in Rutherglen increasing.

Said Barratt West Scotland sales director, Stuart MacColl: “Sales at The Laurels in the heart of the planned Games area have been going well. But the announcement of Glasgow’s victory in the Games bid has prompted a rise in serious enquires. Not only has this development generated a lot interest from local residents and will provide much needed housing for first-time buyers in an area of established housing. But investors are also looking at buying on this prime development.”

Just over 10 minutes to the City by rail, construction work has now started at the Laurels, Farme Cross in Rutherglen, a few minutes walk from Rutherglen High Street and the train station. The Laurels offers luxury apartments with space to live, space to relax and space to enjoy, but still within close proximity to the City. Indeed, Barratt's luxury 2 or 3 bedroom apartments at this development certainly tick all the right boxes – with a choice of deals to help you cushion against rising costs.

Explains Stuart: “For a limited period, buyers can choose from a number of options including; Move in for £99, deposit paid, legal fees paid, 2 year fixed mortgage, Survey fee paid or a monthly subsidy towards living expenses for up to 2 years.”

Stuart concluded: "With construction work is now underway on this new development, sales are brisk and so far sales have been mainly to local residents. But the announcement of the Games victory has widened the appeal of the development.”

When completed, 120 two and three apartments will be built on this multi-million £ re-development of a former brown-field site. We are currently building 2 and 3 bedroom apartments, priced from £142,500".
