Rightmove’s free iPhone app has only been available for just over a month but is already making an impact in the property industry with some glowing testimonials from home-hunters and agents alike. By using GPS tracking to map out available properties from a user’s exact location as they search, the Rightmove iPhone app already looks like becoming a key component in the property-buying process. The app’s popularity has generated over 175,000 downloads so far, and shot to the number one spot on the iTunes app store within four days of its release.

The Buyer: Martin Ball – Epsom, Surrey.

“I had been looking on Rightmove for a property for my family for a while, but never seemed to find enough time to fully check. With properties moving so quickly in my area at the moment this app allowed me to be one step ahead of the game.

I had downloaded and started using the app for around a week when I saw a property in Epsom that had been advertised by Jackson Noon that day (Friday). I arranged a viewing through the app on the Saturday and really liked the flat so put an offer in that very day. We had the offer accepted on the Monday and are just at the conveyancing stage ahead of completion.

I don't think I would have had a look-in without the app. It gave us a great head start in the search and enquiry making process and made the whole purchase so quick and manageable”.

The Agent: Christian Slade - CB Slade Estate Agents, Cricklade, Swindon, Wiltshire.

“I recently got in touch with Rightmove just say a huge thank you on behalf of all at CB Slade Estate Agents for developing the iPhone App. Due to the app we brought a property to market and managed to get a sale agreed within 3 days!

A young couple were travelling back from a trip away with friends in Wales. It was a common situation; he was driving, she was bored. To pass the time she started flicking through her iPhone on the Rightmove app looking at properties. They are first time buyers and were looking for a starter home in Purton, Wiltshire where they lived. She found a three bedroom mid-terrace house we had recently started advertising and gave us a call. The couple were viewing the property less than 3 hours later, arranged a second viewing the next evening and then the following day a deal was tied up.

It was a perfect example of how a forward thinking estate agency can utilise a forward thinking property portal to achieve the best possible result for clients”.

Rightmove Commerical Director Miles Shipside comments: “We have been delighted with how well the iPhone app has been received. Mobile technology provides an ideal additional platform for us to advertise our agent’s properties and for home-hunters to locate and view them. It’s a great example of how this type of technology can be integrated into a business model to make things easier for customers.”

Shipside adds: "The Rightmove iPhone app was released just over a month ago but users, agents and developers are already seeing the benefit. With the GPS location tool, home-hunters can locate available properties in their immediate surroundings on-the-go and be straight on the phone to book their viewing with an agent. As you can see from our testimonials, this is making the property searching process a lot easier and quicker for all involved”.
