Austrian launches new Eastern Europe destination

3rd April 2007 Print
Austrian Austrian Airlines extends its premier position with the introduction of Bourgas in Bulgaria. This Black Sea city is central to the overseas property boom in Bulgaria and will become Austrian’s 46th destination in Central & Eastern Europe.

From 15 May 2007 Austrian will introduce flights, three times weekly, to Bourgas in Bulgaria, this will be in addition to existing services to Sofia and Varna.

Bourgas is the fourth largest city in Bulgaria and the largest in the South East of the country. Bourgas airport is second only to Sofia and serves the Black sea resorts that are so important to tourism and the dynamic second home market. Major neighbouring resorts include Sunny Beach, Nessebar, Sozopol, Dyuni and Elenite.

Bourgas itself boasts a 7 km seaside, maritime park extending from the city centre, with its two universities, to the shores of Lake Atanasovsko. The park connects with pedestrian promenades filled with lively sidewalk cafes, restaurants and bars.

Dubbed as the “City of Talents” due to the number of prominent artists and musicians who hail from the region, Bourgas has an active artistic and cultural life. In the summer a 2,500 seat open-air theatre in the park offers concerts from pop through folk to opera.
