Beat Borat - fly Austrian to Kazakhstan

27th April 2007 Print
Austrian Airlines Austrian’s Eastern expansion continues with the introduction of Astana in Kazakhstan. The ‘Focus East’ strategy is enhanced with new services to Tallinn, Estonia and increased frequencies to Erbil in Iraq.

Borat may have put it on the map, but Austrian has put it on the network. From 3 August 2007 Austrian will commence thrice weekly operations from Vienna to Astana, capital of Kazakhstan. Since becoming capital in 1997 Astana has been the site of one of the world’s greatest building projects with ambitions to be one of the most important cities in all of Central Asia.

The success of Austrian Airlines Eastern expansion is emphasised by the introduction of a fourth weekly service to Erbil in Iraq from 1 July 2007. Since it’s introduction in December 2006 this service has doubled in frequency and Austrian remains the only Western carrier operating this route.

From 4 June 2007 Austrian will commence services to Tallinn, capital of Estonia, this compliments operations to the capitals of the other Baltic States. Flights to Tallinn will operate four times a week, services to Riga, capital of Latvia are twice daily and Vilnius in Lithuania has daily flights from Vienna.
