Top punctuality performance from Austrian

Reliability and punctuality are essential in air travel especially for transfer passengers, which is why Austrians performance is so impressive. AEA statistics for the first three months of 2007 show further improvement from Austrian on an already positive trend. This despite external factors including adverse weather conditions and strikes at international airports.
On short and medium–haul flights the punctuality rate rose to 87.2% compared to the average of 79.3% for all AEA member airlines. The long-haul performance was 85.0% well ahead of the 66.6% average.
Coupled with an increase in flight reliability figures - 99.4% of all planned short and medium-haul scheduled and charter flights operated (again better than the AEA average of 98.1%) and 99.6% in the long-haul sector – Austrian is a top flight performer.
Summarising the result, Chief Executive Officer, Alfred Ötsch said, “In our position as network carrier, having to take thousands of transfer passengers on hundreds of connecting flights into consideration every day, this is a top result.”
