Major success for Austrian Airlines

In the annual survey carried out by the specialist magazine Business Traveller, Austrian Airlines has taken 1st place in the “Food & Drink” category. In the area of “Best Airline Europe”, Austrian achieved 2nd place.

Additionally, Austrian Economy Class was awarded a prize by the annual “Airlinetest 2008” last week. Austrian Economy Class took 1st place as “Best Short- and Medium haul Airline Europe”. The Airline also showed a top position in the Long-haul ranking for Best European Airline, where Austrian Economy Class took 7th place.

The Austrian Airlines Group has already taken a number of high-value awards the year before. These latest leading positions are a clear sign that the consistent Austrian quality and service offensive is working, and being recognised by customers as amongst the best products in the industry today.

The Austrian Airlines Group has already taken a number of top awards in the course of the past year. For instance, Austrian took a leading place in the survey of German business magazine Capital, being named Best Airline in Europe. In 2007, meanwhile, more than 14 million air travellers from 90 countries around the world assessed some 160 airlines for British consultant Skytrax.

Austrian claimed 1st place in the comparison of global Business Class Catering products and was given the rank of a “4 Star Airline” in the Skytrax Overall Evaluation.

Austrian subsidiary Tyrolean Airways, which provides its services under the Austrian arrows brand, also received a top award in 2007. The carrier won the “Regional Airline of the Year Silver Award 2007–08”. This is presented annually by the umbrella organisation of European airlines, the European Regions Airline Association (ERA).
