Austrian adds Amman to Middle East network

Austrian introduces Amman from May 2009 building its position as a major carrier to the Middle East with a total of fourteen destinations. The new service will feature the recently launched Premium Service Business Class.

The Austrian Airlines Group continues to expand its route network into the Middle East adding Amman, capital of the Kingdom of Jordan, from 6 May 2009.

Services will operate four times a week using an Airbus A320 featuring the Austrian Premium Service Business Class; passengers can enjoy the unique mix of Austrian hospitality and Middle Eastern luxury.

The new service offers excellent connections to and from London with a comfortable transfer time of just 55 minutes at Vienna which is acknowledged as Europe’s fastest transfer airport with a minimum connection time of just 25 minutes. Outbound services connect with OS458 from London departing 06.05, arriving Vienna 09.25. Return services connect with OS457 departing Vienna 19.50, arriving London 21.35.

Austrian Chief Commercial Officer Dr. Andreas Bierwirth said the following about the new destination:

We also benefit from the new flows of traffic from the Middle East towards Eastern Europe, another region where we enjoy a commanding market position. Thanks to the new Austrian Premium Service, which has grown enormously in popularity since its introduction in July, we are now also well ahead of the competition in quality terms.”

Travellers can now enjoy the Austrian Premium Service experience on flights to Dubai, Damascus, Astana, Tehran, Cairo, Erbil, Riyadh and Jeddah. From May 2009 onwards, they will also have the opportunity to indulge themselves on the flight to Amman.
