Austrian reports fall in passenger volume for November

18th December 2008 Print
The aviation industry is currently reporting falls in passenger volume and collapsing demand worldwide, a negative trend which continued in November. The Austrian Airlines Group carried 7.1% fewer passengers last month in the scheduled and charter segments than in November 2007, although this was also due to capacity reductions.

The overall load factor fell by 0.8 percentage points, to 72.8%. The aviation sector is expected to continue suffering significantly from the effects of the wider financial and economic crisis in coming months.

With a total of around 10.0 million passengers carried (scheduled and charter) in the period from January to November, the figure remained at nearly the same level as the previous year. The overall load factor stood at 75.6%, slightly down on last year. The company kept passenger volume stable in the scheduled segment overall, recording an increase of 6.8% in the Focus East regions.
