Austrian increases capacity on Dubai routes

Routes to the Middle East are central to Austrian Airlines Focus East strategy and have recently benefited from the introduction of the Premium Service Business Class. Among the most successful are flights to Dubai therefore Austrian Airlines will expand its seating capacity on the route from 1 March 2009.

This is made possible by the use of a Boeing 767 (previously exclusively used on long-haul routes), with 235 seats, on more than half the flights to the Emirate. Until now, both daily services to Dubai have been operated using an Airbus A321, offering a maximum of 193 seats. This represents a significant capacity expansion of almost 20% most specifically in Business Class where Austrian Airlines will now offer up to 120 seats a day on the route.

To coincide with the capacity increase, Austrian Airlines is offering an all-inclusive Economy return fare starting from just £442, at austrian.com subject to availability. These fares are for travel between 1 March and 30 June 2009. The hard choice is between the super value Economy fare and the superb quality Business Class experience.

For passengers the introduction of the Boeing 767 doesn’t just mean more supply; it also means a significantly higher level of comfort. Seats on Business Class long-haul routes (leather sleeper seats) are 2 metres long and with legroom of up to 150 cm and are equipped with numerous practical functions. In the Economy cabin a wide range of elements makes the journey especially comfortable; from a tilting reading lamp and extra-wide television screen to a built-in massage function in the seat.

Passengers on the Dubai route already enjoy the Austrian Premium Service Business Class, catering on board is the same on both aircraft types. Austrian flight attendants serve refreshing fruit juices, drinks and warm nuts as an aperitif service, after which they are served freshly prepared gourmet menus from Do&Co of several courses featuring Oriental and Austrian specialities on the finest porcelain. Exquisite speciality teas and coffees round off the product.
