Emirates mesmerises at Magic Millions Carnival

Emirates Ladies Day Emirates flagged off its global sports sponsorship events for the year in style on Emirates Ladies Day at the Magic Millions Carnival, being held at the Gold Coast Turf Club in Queensland, Australia.

Egged on by the deafening roars from the crowd Fort ‘N’ Won gave spectators something to cheer about today after winning the Emirates Airline Stakes.

Beating stable mates Inthemix and July in the 2,200 metre Emirates Airline Stakes, Fort ’n’ Won left the competition in its tracks to rightfully claim the A$50,000 prize purse.

Emirates’ Mike Simon, Divisional Senior Vice President Corporate Communications was on hand to award owner Sean Darcy, Jockey Brad Stewart and trainer Gerald Ryan their trophies.

He said: “We are proud to partner with the Gold Coast Turf Club and in these last three years of our involvement with the Magic Millions Carnival, we have seen the event growing in stature on the world stage and earn its stripes as a premier race meeting. 2007 marks Emirates’ fourth year of service in Brisbane and we want a major platform such as this one to say a big thank you to Queenslanders for their unstinting hospitality and support. Our sponsorship of the Magic Millions Carnival has drawn Queensland and Dubai closer, benefiting business and tourism in both cities.”

This year’s Magic Millions Carnival is the third consecutive year that Emirates Airline has sponsored several events, both on and off the track, as part of their sponsorship with the Gold Coast Turf Club.

In addition to the outstanding Emirates Airline Stakes, the airline also sponsored six other races including the Emirates SkyCargo Cup, The Skywards Plate, The Emirates Airline Challenge, Emirates Group Classic, Emirates Airline Handicap, and The Emirates Holidays Handicap.

With their reputation for exclusive trackside functions, Emirates invited a select group of guests to attend a VIP event in the Dome restaurant, overlooking the racing action.

Another major drawcard on the day was the colourful Emirates Airline Fashions on the Field that showcased the day’s finest off-track competition. The lucky winner of the highly competitive ‘Most Contemporary Racewear’, Kara Wilmot, category took home two Business Class return tickets from Brisbane to Dubai, as well as some fabulous prizes. The prize package for claiming the Emirates Airline Fashions on the Field crown is valued at A$5,000.

On Saturday, one very fashionable lady will walk away with a A$10,000 trip to Dubai including two Business Class return tickets from Brisbane, three nights accommodation for two, tickets and transfers to the world-renowned Dubai World Cup.

Emirates offers 49 weekly flights from Dubai to Australia – daily to Brisbane, and double dailies to Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth.
