Cars on the fast track thanks to Emirates SkyCargo Emirates SkyCargo were watching last weekend’s GP2 and Speedcars Asia Series race with a great sense of pride. Earlier last week the cargo arm of Emirates Airline transported the last of the 26 GP2 cars, 20 Speedcars and all of their spare parts from Dubai to Indonesia.

All cars are competing in the second race of the season at Sentul Circuit in Bogor, West Java, on 16 and 17 February, following the Grand Opening series which kicked off in Dubai.

The cars were divided into batches and delivered on three separate dedicated freighter flights over a one week.

“Transporting these high-speed, high-value cars required extra care handling and special treatment through the whole process – from on-ground handling to loading them into the freighter, and also during the flight,” said Ery Zulma , Emirates SkyCargo Indonesia Manager.

“Due to bad weather in Jakarta, the cars were wrapped in a plastic cocoon to guard them from the rain. This is to ensure that all the cars stay in their top condition and are ready to compete in the race. Emirates SkyCargo has all the expertise, equipment, and experience in handling this type of unusual consignment.”

Emirates SkyCargo had also been trusted to handle the transport of all the racing cars during the A1 Grand Prix of Nations in 2005.

Ery added, “We are honored to be a part of this major motor sporting event. Emirates SkyCargo being entrusted to transport all these valuable cars reflects that customers are aware of our exceptional services as a leader in the cargo industry.”

Emirates SkyCargo offers belly capacity on 10 flights each week from Jakarta to Dubai – four services via Singapore and Colombo, thrice weekly via Kuala Lumpur, and thrice weekly non-stop from Dubai to Jakarta, as well as specially chartered freighter flights.
