Emirates Group supports South Africa's hospitality industry Dnata, a division of the Dubai-based Emirates Group, is extending its hospitality in South Africa by supporting the hotel sector in one of the country's most popular provinces.

Luxury Hotels by Dnata has signed up The Oyster Box, an iconic landmark on the golden coastline of Durban, the latest city to be served by direct flights from Emirates airline. Under the deal, Luxury Hotels by Dnata will represent the 5-star hotel in the Middle East, providing sales, marketing and PR support.

Occupying a prime beachfront position in the city's prestigious Umhlanga’s area, The Oyster Box is also conveniently located for a wide range of attractions and activities, including South Africa’s oldest game park, Hluhluwe-Imfolozi, in northern KwaZulu-Natal province. Around 20 percent of all visitors to South Africa head for Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Following an extensive two year refurbishment, The Oyster Box will re-open on October 1st, the same day that the daily Dubai-Durban flights begin.

Iain Andrew, Divisional Senior Vice President of Dnata Travel Services said that Dnata was proud to be working with one of the leading hotels in South Africa.

He added: “We believe that the re-opening of this world-class hotel, combined with Emirates airline’s new flights to Durban, will make the city a real must-visit for holidaymakers in the Middle East.”

The new-look Oyster Box is a true treasure trove, filled with art and fine antiques. The art collection has been handpicked over the last three years and features works by prominent European and South African artists. The hotel also houses a fascinating collection of memorabilia, such as the ‘Clock Library’, where guests can relax amid a unique collection of antique clocks from around the world and the ‘July Room’, dedicated to Durban’s famous annual horse racing event.

The hotel boasts 90 beautifully appointed rooms and suites, eight Garden Villas, each with its own private pool and a magnificent Presidential Suite, complete with private pool.

The Oyster Box, owned by the Red Carnation Group, also has a state-of-the-art spa and beautifully appointed hammam, plus a well-equipped, hi-tech gym and two outdoor swimming pools.

This will be the second hotel in South Africa to benefit from the sales, marketing and PR support provided by Luxury Hotels by Dnata. Its portfolio already includes the award-winning Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa in Cape Town.
