Bath Christmas Market set to be most diverse ever

26 new traders will be joining the returning stallholders offering different product ranges from festive food to handcrafted jewellery and Turkish textiles to beautiful handbags. Victoria Spriggs, Events Executive at Bath Tourism Plus, is very pleased to welcome the new retailers to the market. “Each year since the market started an increasing number of small independent traders have approached us requesting to take part. We are very loyal to our repeat traders, many of whom come to the market year after year. However this year, for a number of reasons some of the repeat traders have been unable to attend leaving spaces for a range of new and exciting companies. We are very happy to welcome them on board this year.”
Some of the traders to join the long list of retailers of high quality, locally handmade or fair-trade gifts include; two companies from Somerset, A&A Jewellery and the Somerset Toiletry Company; Fishworks which has its popular store in Bath on Green Street; Georgie Porgie’s Puddings from Devon who will be selling a range of delicious steamed sponges and traditional Christmas puddings; and Kuboaa Ltd who are based in Bath and sell contemporary home accessories, fabrics and wallpapers. Full details on all stallholders at the Christmas Market can be found on the official website - bathchristmasmarket.co.uk.
Todd Trethowan of Trethowan’s Dairy will be one of the new traders this year and will be selling their award-winning cheese. He is looking forward to taking part in the market and says, "It's a great opportunity to meet our customers and get feedback on the cheese. It is all hand-made and so much hard work goes in to its production that it's fantastic to hear from our customers how much they enjoy it. This year we will be offering advice on the perfect Christmas cheeseboard!"
Another new stallholder, Dream Blue Trading Company, imports original gifts from Turkey, richly-coloured Turkish textiles and hand-painted ceramics. The company’s Director, Hilary Adanali, says: "We are absolutely delighted to have been accepted into the Bath Christmas Market this year. We have waited until we felt we had the right products to offer and desperately hoped that Bath Tourism Plus would accept us as an exciting new addition to the Market."
The Bath Christmas Market will run from the 27th November to the 7th December and will take place in the usual stunning location between Bath Abbey and the Roman Baths where 123 traditional wooden chalets will line the area which stretches to Abbey Green and York Street. The opening day of the market will coincide with the switch on of the Christmas Lights and the start of late night shopping in the city.
In addition to the market visitors are in for a treat with the city’s rich offering of great places to eat out, entertainment and attractions and a variety of enticing events including Carol Services for shoppers at Bath Abbey, Carols by Candlelight at the Pump Room and the Milsom Place Chocolate Festival which takes place on the 6th December and gives visitors the chance to meet award winning chocolatiers in the chic and elegant courtyards of Milsom Place.
