24th October 2008 Print
Step back in time for a Victorian Christmas Schools are being invited to step back in time with the National Park’s education team as they plan to celebrate the joys of a Victorian Christmas across the Brecon Beacons. Brecon Beacons National Park Authority education team is offering school children a chance to participate in some traditional festive fun by helping them discover how the Victorians celebrated their Christmas.

Children will be able to get a true taste of Victorian life, join in parlour games, make natural decorations and enjoy a variety of Christmas activities amidst the beautiful scenery at Craig-y-nos Country Park or the YHA Danywenallt National Park Study Centre.

Eleri Thomas, Education Officer for Brecon Beacons National Park Authority said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for children to examine some real artefacts from the Victorian period and discover how they lived. Bookings are limited but this Christmas based experience is suitable for all Key Stage 2 pupils - led by qualified and experienced members of the education team dedicated to supporting and enriching the history and art subjects of the National Curriculum.”

Costs average at £6 per child with classes running from the 1st - 19th December from 10am until 2.15pm – so hurry and book now to guarantee your school a place.
