Carnaby launches Christmas with a Silent Night disco

12th November 2008 Print
Carnaby launches Christmas with a Silent Night disco On Thursday 13th November 5.30 – 6.30pm Carnaby Street will buzz to the new phenomena of the Silent Disco – the sound of silence. A euphoric experience, the noiseless entertainment will celebrate the Carnaby Christmas decorations where revellers will unite and dance with their oversized radio controlled headphones as the DJ performs live on stage. Dancing skills will be put to the test.

As soon as the dancers are given their headphones they are transported into their own magical music world and will groove on the Carnaby Street dance floor in this first winter wonderland silent disco.

Carnaby will be transformed into an imaginary snow globe for the ‘Silent Night’ event, with an installation that includes thousands of cascading snowflakes and 13 giant snowmen suspended over the streets.

Paul Dart, designer from James Glancy Designs who has created the Carnaby Christmas Decorations 2008 says “The inspiration for this year’s decorations came from the childhood fantasy of a white Christmas and the delight in creating snowmen from the first fall of snow. By filling Carnaby with thousands of snowflakes I want to remind people of the magic and excitement of snow falling’.

Not forgetting the all important Christmas shopping, Carnaby stores will be open late until 8pm. Restaurants, bars and clubs will of course be open for those who want to make a big night of it. Try Zebrano for cocktails and 24 London for partying in style.

If you would like to join the free disco on world famous Carnaby Street, simply visit carnaby.co.uk for further details. Prizes will be awarded to the most flamboyantly dressed dancers, so dress to impress.
