Leicester's in fashion A major new short break package has been developed to celebrate Leicester’s spectacular multi-million pound cultural and style renaissance. The new Christmas and New Year shopping breaks start from £170 per couple and include a luxurious superior double room with full English breakfast at one of the region’s most fashionable hotels, Hotel Maiyango – a stunning new 14 bedroom boutique hotel.

Visitors will be greeted with a Champagne cocktail upon arrival and the experience also includes a personal shopper and vouchers for £75 at Cruise, the UK’s leading independent luxury retailer specialising in iconic international designer collections.

This short break is supported by Leicester Shire Promotions. To book your Christmas or New Year shopping getaway in the transformed city of Leicester, log on to goleicestershire.com/shopping-break.

Cruise is located in the inspirational £350 million Highcross Leicester retail and leisure development that opened in the city in September 2008. Highcross Leicester offers over 120 shops including Ghost, Reiss, Hugo Boss and Apple, three department stores including one of the largest John Lewis stores in the country, over 20 contemporary cafés and restaurants, and Leicester’s very first city centre multiplex cinema, Cinema de Lux.

However, Highcross Leicester is only one part of the city centre that offers an outstanding shopping experience. Leicester is also home to the trendy boutiques and independent shops of the Leicester Lanes and St Martins Square, pedestrianised shopping areas such as Market Street, Gallowtree Gate and Humberstone Gate, and the major Haymarket Shopping Centre.

Leicester’s cultural renaissance is led by the opening of the new Curve theatre in the Cultural Quarter of the city. ‘Simply Cinderella’ is the opening show at this iconic venue and begins in December 2008. For more information on cultural short break offers including preferential rates on accommodation for your visit to Curve, go to Goleicestershire.com/city.
