Christmas festivities in the heart of rural Suffolk

Guests arriving on Christmas Eve are greeted with a glass of hot mulled wine before the crackling open log fire. The festive package also includes a light afternoon tea on the 24th, plus a champagne reception and dinner in the beamed and vaulted Gallery Restaurant. Everyone is also invited to Midnight Mass in the beautifully decorated Lavenham Church of St Peter and St Paul, before returning to the hotel for a late night glass of mulled wine and mince pies.
Traditional Christmas lunch with all the trimmings is served from 12 noon; and for those who are still hungry there’s a festive buffet in the evening followed by a Christmas quiz. Boxing Day lunch and dinner with live entertainment are also included plus an optional afternoon guided walk around the historic medieval village of Lavenham, which will be seasonally decorated with greenery and festive lights plus a huge Christmas tree in the main square.
Steeped in history, the Swan has been celebrating Christmas for nearly 600 years. The ancient oak beams and inglenook fireplaces provide a beautiful backdrop to the festive celebrations, while outstanding food is served in the two AA rosette Gallery Restaurant, informal lounges and the historic Old Bar, where the walls feature WWII airmen’s signatures and memorabilia. Decked out for the festive season, it has several twinkling Christmas trees placed around the hotel including one high up on the Minstrel’s Gallery above the restaurant.
