Christmas breaks - From cowsheds to country manors

CV Travel has launched its Christmas collection of UK cottages, manor houses and even a converted geothermally heated cow shed, with its own filtered water supply, a Christmas tree and champagne on arrival.

This is CV's first ever Christmas collection, following the launch of its British houses and cottages earlier in 2009.

Christmas cottage in Cornwall
For a cosy Christmas guests can snuggle up in front of the log burning stove in `The Cow Shed’ a stone cottage for four close to Polzeath Beach in Cornwall. Rental includes a complimentary Christmas tree twinkling and a chilled bottle of Champagne. CV Travel is offering a week’s stay for £1,800, arriving on Saturday 19th December. For eco-aware guests, the cottage is heated with geothermal energy and a water bore-hole provides pure filtered water, which is recycled back into the streams.

To the manor for a west country Christmas
Up to 6 guests can enjoy Christmas in `The West Wing’, part of a stone built country manor, close to Bath and Chippenham. The property is visited by choristers singing carols on Christmas Eve, Father Christmas is in his grotto close by at Westonbirt Arboretum and Christmas candle lit midnight mass takes place at nearby Bath Abbey. A week’s stay at Christmas and New Year costs £1500.

Christmas on the farm
Set amid 37 acres of pastureland, the 16th C Home Farm is a homely and peaceful place for up to 8 guests to spend Christmas, festively decorated with a Christmas tree. Its large farmhouse kitchen, with Rayburn Aga, guests will find a welcome Christmas hamper, makes a focal point for a family gathering. A week’s rental at Christmas costs £2250.

Family house amid Devon woodland
For Christmas amid the woodland and streams of Devon’s Tamar Valley Riverside Cottage provides family accommodation with a 4-oven Aga in the traditional farmhouse style kitchen. The house is festively decorated and rental includes a Christmas tree and Christmas hamper, at a cost of £2250 per week for up to 7 sharing.

Cosy stone barn for Christmas
Fluffy bathrobes, a Nespresso coffee machine, iPod docking stations and comlplimentary equipment for baby-friendly living are provided for guests spending Christmas at The Honey Barn, as well as a Christmas tree and bottle of champagne. The stone built 18th C traditional barn retains original Cornish stone, slate and timber features but with modern interiors to provide a chic Christmas cottage for up to 4 to share for £1350 per week, arriving on 19th December.

CV Travel are offering a fabulous Christmas Day venue for families and friends in a luxurious country mansion which comfortably sleeps up to 18 guests, surrounded by 50 acres of gardens and parkland, with the Brecons National Park on the doorstep for horse riding, falconry and bracing walks. Brecon Beacons Manor can be rented for £8890 for a week (equivalent to £494 / person / week), arriving on 19th December, or £4,990 for 3 nights (£278 / person), based on 18 sharing.
