Milton Keynes is full of Christmas cheer
Destination Milton Keynes (DMK), the organisation charged with promoting a collective voice for tourism within the new city of Milton Keynes, has unveiled a calendar of events that will take place in and around the city throughout the festive period.The bumper stockingful of events planned through DMK’s members all aim to provide a fun-filled build up to a family Christmas and include the ‘Wind in the Willows: A Christmas Tale’ attraction at thecentre:mk and, of course, Santa making his yearly visit to all the good boys and girls of the city.
Destination Milton Keynes, a collaboration of businesses aiming to ensuring that every visitor to the city has a first-rate experience of Milton Keynes, has planned a series of events involving their members promoting the Christmas period. The events planned take place in and around the city and provide a range of activities for all the family.
As part of the line up this year Milton Keynes is boasting the ‘Wind in the Willows: A Christmas Tale’ display in thecentre:mk which includes a traditional carousel and other attractions based on the classic children’s novel. Also, Xscape is offering customers the opportunity to be enchanted by the magical Winter Wonderland including a visit from Santa, ice carving sessions and the chance to win a SMART car in time for Christmas. Woburn Enterprises is also entering into the festive spirit with a Christmas Antiques fair from Friday 7th December to Sunday 9th of December and the winter opening of the Safari Park open weekdays until the 7th March 2008 from 11am - 3pm (last entry).
Milton Keynes Museum is presenting a window into Christmases past, by staging a Victorian Christmas every weekend until the 16th December. Visitors will be able to take the opportunity to step back in time to a bygone age where they can enjoy music in the parlour, make Christmas decorations and try delicious festive refreshments.
More recent ‘traditions’ haven’t been ignored either with this year’s pantomime ‘Aladdin’ starring Bradley Walsh from Coronation Street. Bradley appeared in ‘Cinderella’ last year which was Milton Keynes Theatre’s most successful pantomime ever. Gulliver’s Land theme park is also opening a selection of rides for the Christmas period guaranteed to delight the family. Santa is also making his annual trip down from the North Pole with several appearances at grottos all over the city.

Thankfully, the businesses in Milton Keynes haven’t shied away from the challenge. They’ve really got into the spirit of things and have put a tremendous amount of effort into ensuring that the events are fun for all the family.”
