SWISS carries 10 millionth passenger in 2006

SWISS today welcomed its tenth million passenger of the current year aboard one of its aircraft and awarded a voucher for two persons to the timely traveller. On reaching the 10 million mark, SWISS has already surpassed the number of passengers carried last year by a margin of about nine percent.

Harry Hohmeister, Chief Network & Distribution Officer, and Jürg Dinner, head of Corporate Communications, notified the surprised winner of the free flight just after she had accepted the boarding card for her flight to Los Angeles. Now she has a free flight in Europe for two persons in Business Class to look forward to. “It’s like it was already Christmas. Now I can go off on another trip,“ said a delighted Heidi Amstalden. “It’s great that our airline is doing so well and that so many passengers are choosing to fly with SWISS.”

SWISS is buoyed at present by an attractive route network and a seat load factor consistently above that of last year when the airline carried 9.6 million passengers. With more than two weeks remaining in 2006, SWISS has already carried its 10-millionth passenger of the year.
