SWISS to introduce new Geneva-Bucharest service

13th September 2007 Print
SWISS is further expanding its Geneva-based network with the introduction next April of a thrice-weekly service to and from Bucharest. The new route extends the range of non-stop services operated by SWISS from Geneva to ten destinations.

SWISS will be offering three weekly flights between Geneva and Bucharest from next April onwards. The Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays service will be operated with Airbus A319 equipment. The new route will bring to 23 the number of destinations SWISS offers from Geneva, with flights to 13 of these operated under codeshare agreements with partner airlines.

“Our new service to Bucharest is a further sign of our commitment to Geneva as one of our three national airports,” says Harry Hohmeister, SWISS’s Chief Network Officer. “And we firmly intend to continue with our current Geneva expansion.”

In introducing its new non-stop services between Geneva and Bucharest, SWISS is further strengthening its position in the South-Eastern European market. Romania’s membership of the European Union has increased the country’s trade and transport flows to and from Switzerland. The various international organisations which are based in Geneva will also benefit from the new SWISS flights.

The addition of the new Geneva route raises SWISS services between Switzerland and Romania to ten non-stop flights a week. Geneva-based customers can also use SWISS’s daily connections to Bucharest via Zurich, providing further flexibility for their travel plans.
