SWISS named “Best Airline for Europe”

Swiss International Air Lines has again been voted “Best Airline for Europe” by the readers of Germany’s reputed Business Traveller magazine. Switzerland’s quality airline secured the top spot in the 2007 Business Traveller Awards in the individual “Cabin Crew”, “Ground Services and Lounges” and “Cabin Comfort” categories to earn overall first place as “Best Airline for Europe” and maintain the success it had achieved in last year’s Awards.

Alexander Arafa, SWISS Head of Sales & Marketing Europe, collected the prestigious award on behalf of all SWISS personnel at a ceremony in Frankfurt today. “These honours from the readers of Business Traveller mean a lot to us,” he said. “Our top placings confirm to us that we are delivering on our promise of making our customers feel at home whenever they’re aboard. Personal care, quality in every detail and typical Swiss hospitality: these are the values that our staff embody and convey day in, day out. And it’s to their tremendous work and commitment that we owe our success.”

SWISS continues to invest in its product, too, to further enhance its customers’ air travel experience. The entire European aircraft fleet has now been fitted with new seats. And inflight service, which was substantially improved last year, will be undergoing further refinements in the course of 2008. SWISS also opened three new lounge facilities at Geneva Airport last year for its First Class customers, Miles & More Senators and Business Class travellers.

Mid-December also saw the opening of a new and bigger lounge at Zurich Airport for SWISS First Class customers. And Business Class travellers and Miles & More Senators will enjoy new lounges at Zurich from summer 2008. All in all, SWISS is expanding its Zurich lounge facilities by over 900 square metres to more than 3 000 square metres. And further enhancements at Zurich include a bigger check-in area for First Class travellers and a stylish new Airport Travel Office for the use of all SWISS customers.

Zurich Airport also confirmed its success over the past year in the latest Business Traveller Awards by retaining its title as “Best Major European Airport and Hub”. With its short distances to and from the gates, its high punctuality and its extensive range of quality retail outlets, Zurich Airport is extremely popular among both travellers to and from Switzerland and connecting passengers.
