More flights in SWISS’ winter schedules

24th July 2008 Print
SWISS will be further expanding its services in Europe with the start of the new winter schedules on October 26, to the benefit of travellers to and from London City, Istanbul, Valencia and Budapest. SWISS will also be operating Airbus A340 equipment on its Zurich-Dubai-Muscat route from mid-December onwards.

London City will see its service to and from Zurich increased from eight to nine daily frequencies from the start of the winter timetable period. The new non-stop flight will cover the present gap in the schedules between 08:00 and 10:00, and will further strengthen SWISS’s position in this key market. Service on the Zurich-Istanbul route will be increased to two daily flights.

Additional Saturday and Sunday SWISS services will also be operated between Christmas and Easter. The extra frequencies will be added to the Geneva-Manchester and Zurich-Stockholm routes.

New Geneva-Budapest service
In response to changed traffic demand, SWISS’s services to Valencia will be switched from Geneva to Zurich. The capacity released in Geneva will be used to offer a new non-stop service to and from Budapest. Elsewhere, Zurich-Manchester flights will be newly operated with Airbus A319 equipment.

Airbus A340s for the Zurich-Dubai-Muscat route
On the intercontinental front, SWISS will be raising capacity on its Zurich-Dubai-Muscat route: from December 15 onwards, the service will be operated using Airbus A340 equipment with a three-class cabin. As a result, the shorter Zurich-Tel Aviv route will be switched to Airbus A330 operation from the same date.

SWISS’s winter timetable period runs from October 26, 2008 to March 28, 2009.
