SWISS makes fuel surcharge adjustments

12th June 2009 Print
SWISS is to raise its fuel surcharge for long-haul flights by CHF 8 to CHF 122 per sector. The fuel surcharge for SWISS’s European flights (including Cairo and Tel Aviv) rises CHF 2 to CHF 31 per sector. The new surcharges will apply to all tickets for travel from Switzerland issued on or after 10 June.

All tickets issued before this date will be subject to the existing fuel surcharge provisions.

SWISS has been forced to make these modest increases in view of the recent rises in the price of jet fuel. While SWISS expected this to remain at lower and relatively stable levels in view of the current economic crisis and the resulting decline in demand for crude oil, the prices of oil and kerosene have increased by over 50% in the past few months.

SWISS constantly monitors oil prices, and will continue to adjust its fuel surcharges in response to further fuel price trends on the commodities markets.
