Low Cost Airline flies you to the festive fun hotspots this Christmas

Flybe BAE 146 Flybe, one of Europe’s leading low-cost airlines, is helping to keep families entertained this Christmas by providing festive inspiration on places to visit and things to do during the holiday season which will be fun for the whole family.

As the UK’s largest regional carrier, Flybe has identified the top 10 festive family fun activities across the UK, and with a network that stretches the backbone of Britain, the airline is committed to providing families with low-cost and convenient travel so that they can enjoy the seasonal fun with minimum hassle.

Top 10 Festive Family Fun Finds in the Regions

1. Birmingham – Tamworth Snowdome
Open year round
The Tamworth Snowdome is recreating a winter wonderland in the snow, complete with Santa and his reindeers. This is a perfect way to entertain children and adults alike with real snow, live animals and films.

2. Exeter – German Christmas Market
Open until 23rd December
Located on Sidwell Street, the market provides an irresistible flavour of Germany with decorated wooden chalets selling German delicacies, arts & crafts, beautiful jewellery and colourful Christmas decorations.

3. Manchester – Wheel of Manchester
Open until 7th January 2007
The Wheel of Manchester returns to Exchange Square again this year. Lit by thousands of lights and at 60 metres high, the wheel offers all of the family spectacular views across Manchester and beyond.

4. Newcastle – The Snowman
29th December, 11am
The classic Christmas favourite is playing at The Sage Gateshead. Music from the film, such as ‘We’re walking in the Air’, is played to a live screening of the animated film. The film is a firm family favourite and the concert involves a lot of audience participation.

5. Norwich – Christmas Past, Christmas Present at Norwich Cathedral
16th December, 10am – 2.30pm
A great day out for the family at Norwich cathedral where you can learn about Christmas traditions from Saxon times to the present day. With costumed interpreters and crafts to make from each period, as well as a Victorian Father Christmas and a candle lit procession and carol service, it is a jam-packed festive day out.

6. Southampton - Christmas Ghost Walks
11th, 13th and 15th December at 7.30pm from Holy Rood Church
The Sarah Siddons Fan Club, a local theatrical group, hosts Christmas Ghost Walks with animated characters, singing and dancing which will keep young and old entertained.

7. Edinburgh – Giant Hat Kata Tents
9th – 17th December
Originally inspired by the reindeer-herding Sami people of Lapland, the tents will provide a base for face painting and story telling to get families in to the festive spirit.

8. Glasgow - Glasgow on Ice
Until 24th December
George Square in Glasgow plays host to a magical winter wonderland this Christmas. After entering the rink through a palace style façade, skaters will be greeted in festive costume and will have the chance to meet Santa in his grotto.

9. Guernsey – A Victorian Christmas
Until 31st December
Victorian themed activities and games for all the family in a parlour decorated for Christmas at the Guernsey Museum & Art Gallery.

10. Jersey – la Fete de Noue
Throughout December
Jersey comes alive during the Christmas festival with activities on offer for all of the family, from late night shopping to street theatre, Ghost walks to the magical Moonlight parade.
