Flybe, Europe’s leading low-cost carrier, is celebrating another success today after being crowned the Best Management Team in the Air Transport category at the annual global Flight Awards, organised by Flight Magazine. The accolade, presented at the Paris Air Show, comes just one week after the carrier was named the top low-cost airline by leading customer insight specialist, The Listening Company.

The winners are voted for by a panel of judges from a shortlist created by industry professionals. Flybe was chosen ‘in recognition of its extraordinary achievement in executing the acquisition of the BA Connect operation in a remarkable timescale and an extraordinarily smooth manner.’

Mike Rutter, Chief Commercial Officer, Flybe commented: “For Flybe to be recognised as leaders in their field is a huge achievement and a great honour for all our staff who have shown outstanding commitment in what has been a very busy and challenging year.

5 years ago British European had a broken business model. If we hadn't taken the decision to change, we would not be receiving this award today. In the last five years, we have renewed our fleet, created a strong brand and implemented a new business model that has enabled us to get to where we are today.

“The last 12 months have been pivotal for Flybe in terms of successfully growing the business while continuing to provide a first class, low-cost and reliable service to our passengers and we are look forward to building on this success and hopefully featuring again in next years awards.”
