Snow blizzards, rain storms and glorious sunshine for Flybe

28th February 2008 Print
Flybe, the UK's largest regional airline, have this week started their new TV sponsorship commercials in the South West ITV, UTV in Northern Ireland, ITV Scotland and Channel Island TV.

The commercials which are used to sponsor the TV Weather reports show a Flybe Embraer 195 ready for takeoff in various weather elements, then cuts to the inside of the aircraft with excited passengers ready for their trip, each one dressed appropriately for the destination of their choice with the exception of one passenger on the front row that has dressed slightly wrong for the occasion!

The executions also feature Flybe's business benefits including the VIP lounges, Online Check in and the No Scrum required Pre-assigned Seating.

Filmed on location at Exeter in mid December the various weather elements were created on set by specially imported snow machines, wind machines and even the local fire crew who provided the water for the giant rain machine!

A massive spotlight created the sun glistening off the side of the aircraft and a bag of dried leaves were released to create the autumn effect. A wardrobe area was created from a marquee erected outside of Flybe's Hangar for all of the 110 extras used who required over 15 changes of clothes over the 4 day shoot.

Then more filming took place inside Exeter Airport terminal building to recreate the check in, the tranquility of the Flybe Lounge and ease of boarding a Flybe flight.

"I'm sure a few of our regular passengers arriving on flights and taxiing in past our giant snow machine, or watching as our leading lady actress glide past the queues on her skateboard must have wondered quite what was going on" said Simon Lilley Director of Marketing.

"These executions as with our press adverts are some of the hardest working in the industry, and form a key part of our marketing mix. They also display the depth and breadth of our network and convey the key aspects that makes our product so well liked by business travellers."

The sponsorship adverts, produced by Great Western Productions based in Totnes will be shown 5 times a day in each of the UK regions.
