30th April 2008 Print
Flybe, Europe’s largest low cost regional airline, reports that Britain remains the top destination choice for UK travellers looking for affordable short breaks confirming passenger numbers are up 19.5% over the 2007 holiday period. The airline is gearing up for a busy Bank Holiday weekend, theist most popular route being between Belfast City and Manchester.

Birmingham, Edinburgh and Southampton are also proving hugely popular for the variety of culture and history attractions they can offer. London Gatwick also features prominently not only because of its proximity to the many attractions of the South Coast but also because Flybe’s services are ideal for regional passengers needing convenient and affordable connecting flights to and from the country’s second busiest airport.

Flybe’s top 10 routes for the May Bank Holiday are:

1. Belfast City to Manchester
2. Jersey to London Gatwick
3. Guernsey to London Gatwick
4. Belfast City to London Gatwick
5. Edinburgh to Southampton
6. Inverness to London Gatwick
7. Belfast City to Birmingham
8. Jersey to Southampton
9. Birmingham to Edinburgh
10. Glasgow to Southampton

Says Mike Rutter, Chief Commercial Officer Flybe: “It’s good to see that passengers are reaping the benefits of the holiday savings to be made through booking with us. Our passengers are well aware of the benefits to be had from our low fares offered to a range of attractive destinations, all very accessible from convenient regional airports close to home.

“When you also take into consideration the added value of avoiding frustrating, time-consuming and environmentally damaging motorway queues – not to mention the economic benefit from savings made on the ever increasing cost of petrol and diesel – choosing to travel with Flybe’s efficient and friendly service makes even more sense than usual.”

Mr Rutter adds “There is still limited availability so travellers are advised to book without delay to get the best possible remaining deals.”
