Big demand for Flybe’s Manchester route

14th May 2008 Print
Flybe, Europe’s largest low cost regional airline, today reports that ticket sales particularly on its Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast to Manchester services between 12th and 14th May are up by over 50% compared to the same period last year.

Flybe is attributing the substantial surge in demand to Glasgow Rangers’ success in the UEFA Cup this season. Excited ‘Gers fans are snapping up their tickets to arrive in Manchester as much as two days before the final takes place at the City of Manchester Stadium against Russian club, Zenit St Petersburg.

Flybe currently operates four flights a day between Glasgow and Manchester; up to eight a day from Belfast (Fridays) and up to five daily from Edinburgh (Fridays). Those who have still not booked their flight are urged to do so quickly with some tickets still available for booking at flybe.com.

Mike Rutter, Chief Commercial Officer for Flybe, says: “Considering Rangers’ fans are some of the most committed in Britain, some might say this is not exactly a huge surprise! Nonetheless we’re thrilled the fans have chosen to fly with us and we look forward to transporting them to and from Manchester.”

“Flybe hopes that Rangers emerge triumphant and wishes the team and its fans every success in bringing ‘the silverware’ back to Glasgow.”
