Flybe alerts passengers to ‘tailormade’ offers

19th August 2008 Print
Flybe has announced the launch of Departure Board, an innovative way to keep customers updated in real-time about its latest offers and promotions. Departure Board is a true innovation that, with technology provided by Skinkers, gives customers added opportunities to benefit from last-minute Flybe deals through the delivery of targeted messages direct to their computers based on their individual requirements.

The direct to desktop ‘push’ communication channel does not use normal e-mail communication but rather sends specific alerts immediately they become available only to those whose travel requirements match Flybe’s latest offer or promotion.

Flybe’s Digital Marketing Manager, Neil Simpkin, says: “Departure Board is an innovative way for us to keep our customers informed in real time about relevant offers and in a visible and engaging format. It by-passes the usual e-mail messaging system by only appearing when there is pertinent information directly relating to a customer’s pre-specified purpose. Those who download the application are giving Flybe the permission to engage with them in this way directly. Based on information provided by the individual, the bespoke real time alerts will encourage people to book even more value for money business or leisure flights with Flybe because they will know about special deals as soon as they become available.”

David Long, CEO of Skinkers, a market leader in enterprise communication technology, comments: “We are delighted to be working with Flybe in delivering its messaging with visibility and impact through our push technology. We look forward to a long and mutually rewarding partnership.”

Customers can opt into the Departure Board service by downloading the simple desktop application from the Flybe website - flybe.com/alertdownload. Once installed, the customer will be kept informed of offers and promotions related to their desire to travel and the departing locations they have set preferences for.
