Win a training session at Southampton FC with Flybe

Flybe, Europe’s largest and most successful regional airline, is offering another group of local footballers the opportunity of a lifetime to ‘Be a professional footballer’, after last year’s resounding success of the highly successful Flybe initiative.

As the main club sponsor of the Championship side, Southampton, Flybe has gained agreement with the Saints to offer a local adult football team the chance to win a training session with Southampton FC players and their UEFA qualified First Team coaches, as well as the opportunity to meet Manager Jan Poortvliet. And that’s not all; the successful team will then be able to put their new-found skills to the test by playing against local media in a match at the club’s Marchwood training ground.

Teams wishing to take part in this competition are being asked to motivate their case as to why they should be the chosen team. Flybe, along with Southampton FC coaches, players and manager will select the team they feel best deserves to win this coveted prize.

Simon Lilley, Director of Marketing, Flybe says: “After the fantastic success of last year’s event and the benefit and fun that everybody received from the opportunity of being a professional footballer for a day, both Flybe and the Club wanted to give another group of players a chance to live their dream. We are offering a real ‘money cannot buy’ opportunity to the wider football community at Southampton - and of course a great day to remember!”

1978 World Cup finalist Jan Poortvliet, will no doubt be passing on his tips on how to master ‘total football’. He and the other Saints’ coaches will be looking for a competent team of footballers who can demonstrate their enthusiasm for the game, a good level of fitness, have a keen interest in improving their skills and, most importantly, are up for the challenge.

As an airline serving the UK regions that also makes a significant investment to local football and the communities it serves, Flybe is proud of the initiatives that it supports throughout the UK, Ireland and continental Europe.

Lilley adds: “Flybe is dedicated to Southampton and to providing reliable and affordable travel options to and from its southern UK base coupled with the commitment to continuing to develop our comprehensive programme of community investment.”
