Flybe outperforms major airlines for on-time record

12th September 2008 Print
Flybe reports that it has outperformed many major carriers for its on-time record in June 2008 at the 10 leading UK airports featured in the latest Civil Aviation Authority report. Punctuality statistics just released by the Civil Aviation Authority confirm Flybe beat the likes of British Airways, Easyjet, Ryanair, Lufthansa, BMIBaby, Air France, Jet2, BMI and City Jet all of which failed to make the top 10 list.

Highlights of Flybe’s outstanding performance include its popular London Gatwick routes especially from Belfast City, that recorded a strong 87% on time record for June, most significantly the highest level of any carrier in the marketplace: other key routes to London from the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man and Inverness also performed especially well with an overall 84% punctuality record, again, also well ahead of competitors.

Other Flybe routes that posted strong on-time performance included those serving Scotland from Birmingham and Manchester.

In total, Flybe flew a total of 10453 flights during June 2008, only 107 less than the total combined number of flights flown by the nine other European regional carriers featured in the Civil Aviation Authority’s top 10 list.

Mike Rutter, Flybe’s Chief Commercial Officer says: “To have outperformed such major airlines is excellent news and provides tangible proof of just how strong the airline has become following our acquisition of BA Connect last year, a position that will be confirmed when we announce record profits for 2007/08 and for 2008 Q1 next week.

“Flybe is now the number one UK domestic regional point to point airline, operating three times more domestic routes than any other carrier. The CAA report is solid confirmation of our commitment to providing our passengers with reliable, convenient and affordable travel to and from the 63 regional destinations we serve.”
