Flybe 'desperately seeking' a Ben Becula and Kirk Wall
Flybe is hoping to find at least one person called Ben Becula and/or Kirk Wall in a countrywide search for destination namesakes to help it celebrate the launch of the first official flight of new franchise partner, Loganair. And, if you aren’t called Ben or Kirk, then the airline also wants to hear from any person whose name might mirror any other of those destinations flown from Glasgow. The first Mr Ben Becula and Kirk Wall to contact Flybe - the namesakes of two of Flybe’s new Loganair destinations flown from Glasgow – will not only win free return flights but also be invited to the official launch event of the first franchise flight operated by Loganair, at Glasgow International Airport on Monday 27th October as the guest of Flybe Chairman and CEO, Jim French, and Loganair Chairman, Scott Grier.
Mike Rutter, Flybe’s Chief Commercial Officer, comments: “We realise our search for these two namesakes might be a bit of a tall order but we are remaining optimistic that there is someone, somewhere, out there! We’d also invite anyone else who thinks they might persuade us why their name should be considered as a realistic and creative destination namesake for any other Loganair destination flown from Glasgow, to also take part in this somewhat quirky search!”
Flybe’s agreement with new franchise partner, Loganair, takes effect from October 26th at the start of the 2008/09 Winter Schedule. It is the first deal of its kind ever for a UK low cost carrier that has created an exciting synergy between two of Scotland’s best known airlines. It offers passengers the many benefits to be gained from a diverse and expanded route network with a wide choice of connections.
“The operational launch of the franchise deal will mark an historic day for both Loganair and Flybe as BA finally flies off into the sunset,” adds Mr Rutter, “and we greatly look forward to sharing it with our newly uncovered destination namesakes!”
