Flybe takes local children for a Christmas flight with Santa

18th December 2008 Print
Flybe last week took children from Inverness’ NHS Raigmore Hospital for a one-off flight with Santa and Inverness Caledonian Thistle stars aboard one of its Bombardier Q400 aircraft.

The specially chartered flights, organised by Flybe and in association with the Raigmore Hospital, took children on a memorable journey with Santa and eight Caley Thistle football stars. The unique pre-Christmas treat took in the views of the Highlands from 20,000 feet as well as flying over the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium on the one hour flight.

Eight footballers from Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC were aboard including defender Ross Tokely and striker Andrew Barrowman. Each player chatted to the children and helped Santa give out the presents and mince pies, as well as posing for photographs.

Last week, Flybe extended its sponsorship of Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC until 2010, showing its commitment to both the club and the region.

Also onboard the flight were staff from the Raigmore Hospital, Darren MacKintosh, Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC’s Commercial Manager, and Flybe’s General Manager Market Development, Ian Taylor.

Speaking on behalf of Flybe, Ian Taylor said: “Last year saw the first ever ‘Flight with Santa’ and such was the success, we have brought it back. The people of Inverness have shown us great support in 2008 so it is real a pleasure for us to be able to give something back to the community and offer the children a completely unique Christmas gift.”
