Flybe extends free redundancy insurance cover

3rd February 2009 Print
Flybe is helping keep British travellers on the move by extending its offer of free Redundancy Cancellation Insurance cover on all flights booked throughout February.

The free Redundancy Cancellation Insurance offer means that customers can continue to book flights, car hire and hotels during February for travel anytime before October 24th, and know they will be covered automatically by this innovative insurance cover, at no cost to themselves, if they, or anyone else in their party, are made redundant and need to cancel their bookings.

Flybe’s Book With Confidence guarantee, an initiative launched in January to give consumers unrivalled reassurance looking to take advantage of the lowest possible fares by continuing to book their holiday breaks early, is in direct response to the economic pressures faced by everyone in the country. It has proved so popular that it has now been copied by a number of other leading travel companies.

The free-of-charge cover is designed specifically to reassure travellers that they will not be left out of pocket if they are made redundant and entitled to statutory redundancy pay; it allows those who have booked with Flybe to receive a full refund on travel costs associated with their trip.

Flybe’s Book With Confidence guarantee is also simple to administer. If a traveller is made redundant between January and the time of travel, passengers will be able to claim back travel costs quickly and easily - including airfare, booking fee, baggage, seat assignment, pre-paid car hire and pre-paid hotels and parking – after the required documentation3 has been provided. Flybe will also ensure that travellers receive a full refund of government and airport taxes and charges.

Mike Rutter, Chief Commercial Officer, Flybe, says: “Flybe will fund in full the insurance costs through our Insurance partner AIG UK Limited and the peace-of-mind guarantee means that if one member of a party on the same booking is made redundant, any or all of the remaining members of that party can receive a refund if they want one.

“We need to help keep passengers on the move during these difficult economic times when now more than ever people need to be able look forward to their annual holidays and book early with confidence. The fact that this initiative has been copied by other leading travel companies is proof of its popularity with consumers.”
