Flybe adds extra Gatwick flight for Guernsey

30th April 2009 Print
Flybe has announced an additional rotation on its Guernsey to London Gatwick route effective 29th June.

The new summer service, which adds an extra afternoon rotation on this key route, will help the airline meet increased seasonal demand whilst the Guernsey government continues to drag its feet over the promised upgrading the airport runway that, once completed, would enable Flybe to rather serve the island with its larger 118-seat Embraer 195 jet.

The new service will operate Monday to Friday departing London Gatwick at 1550, the return flight departing from Guernsey at 1715. This means that travellers are now able to choose from six return flights a day, with fares available for booking now at flybe.com starting at £29.99 one way including taxes and charges.

The move is further testament to Flybe’s ongoing commitment to the Channel Islands, one that will prove invaluable for business and leisure travellers heading to the capital city by offering greater flexibility on this key route. The additional flights will also help bring more visitors to Guernsey thereby boosting the local economy.

Mike Rutter, Flybe’s Chief Commercial Officer, comments: “Historically, airline after airline have abandoned their services to the Channel Islands, but Flybe’s bucking that trend with this additional rotation. We remain committed to providing affordability and flexibility for Channel Islands travellers and, with six rotations now on this popular route, offer the perfect choice for leisure and business travellers alike.

“Flybe is the UKs largest domestic airline and now operate nine of the 12 domestic routes out of London Gatwick. This extra rotation will strengthen our position as the UK’s favourite domestic airline.”
