Flybe hit by industrial action at Guernsey

26th May 2009 Print
Flybe has been informed by Guernsey Airport that, due to industrial action by the airport's fire fighters the airport will be closed to all flights except for medical emergencies for the whole of Tuesday 26th May.

In a statement, Flybe said “We regret the situation which is completely beyond our control and ask all of our passengers to phone the Flybe Customer Call Centre. Flybe will rebook all passengers at no extra charge on the first available flight.

In response to the industrial action, Niall Duffy, Flybe’s Head of PR and Public Affairs said:

“The States of Guernsey and the Trades Unions have taken incompetence to a whole new level with this latest disruption to air travel. Flybe and it's passengers simply want to see some leadership. We don't care where it comes from but that leadership needs to be shown by somebody before Guernsey's image is beyond repair”.
