VLM Airlines passenger numbers up in 2007

16th January 2008 Print
VLM Airlines carried a total of 745,781 passengers in 2007 – a 9 per cent increase over 2006. The total number of scheduled passengers increased by 6 per cent to 697,781, whilst the number of passengers using the airline’s charter and wet lease flights increased sharply by 62 per cent to 48,000.

2007 was a positive but challenging year for VLM Airlines. With growing competition in the transport sector, heavily subsidized rail operators, rocketing fuel prices, increased government taxation and environmental issues, carriers such as VLM Airlines have needed to keep a careful balance between implementing new developments and monitoring costs.

With a clear and focussed strategy, VLM Airlines has once again demonstrated that its business-oriented approach as a regional airline continues to result in growth. Last year saw the carrier continue to attract greater numbers of business travellers who appreciate the time-saving nature and quality products and services offered by the airline.
