Jet setting Adele wins year-long travel reporter comp

26th June 2008 Print
Armed with a camcorder, her passport and a map of Europe, jewellery importer, Adele Guillen, will be racking up the miles having been unveiled as the winner of a Jet2holidays.com search for a travel reporter. After sifting through reels of video footage that Alan Whicker or Judith Chalmers would be proud of, the judges selected Adele’s entry and she will now spend the next twelve months producing as many as 18 video travel reports from destinations such as sunny Majorca and winter favourite Sharm el Sheikh.

Chorley-based Adele, who speaks fluent Spanish and runs her own website importing Mexican jewellery, formerly worked as a travel rep in Mexico and is perfectly equipped to provide insightful destination reports to be used on the website of the North’s fastest growing tour operator.

Mandy Round, General Manager at Jet2holidays.com said: “The reason why we launched the search was to find an individual who not only had a passion for travel and filming, but could also put themselves in the mindset of a holidaymaker and produce travel reports for our website.

“The response was fantastic and the final decision was really tough. However, we felt that Adele’s video demonstrated her real enthusiasm and confidence in front of the camera and we are confident she will be an extremely competent travel reporter. We are thoroughly looking forward to sharing her experiences over the next few months.”

Each report will be featured on the tour operator’s new video upload facility, tv.jet2holidays.com, where viewers will get a ‘holidaymaker’s-eye-view’ of what each featured resort has to offer before booking for themselves. The new facility will also be available for Jet2holidays customers to upload footage and share their own holiday experiences.

Adele added: “I am over the moon to have won the opportunity to visit a whole host of fantastic destinations with Jet2holidays.com and I can’t wait to get my first trip booked in.

“Ever since I was a little girl I have had a passion for travel and was lucky enough to spend my earlier career abroad, working in Mexico. I’m now looking forward to exploring a few places I’ve never been to and reporting back to anyone who wants to go themselves!”

Launched earlier this year, the competition on jet2holidays.com invited readers to send in their own video travel reports and win the opportunity to spend the next year visiting each of the tour operator’s 18 European destinations.
