29th August 2007 Print
bmi regional, officially the UK’s most punctual airline, is to add an extra return flight between Aberdeen and Manchester from 3 September. This takes the total to fourteen flights each weekday between the two cities, the highest frequency of any scheduled service at Aberdeen.

The airline is also retiming some services between Manchester and Edinburgh and Glasgow from 3 September, improving the schedule for travellers (details below).

Peter Kenworthy, commercial director of bmi regional, said: “We are delighted to be introducing these additional services between Manchester and Aberdeen, extending the choice of flight times for travellers, and making it the most frequent scheduled service at our home base of Aberdeen. The extra flights are being launched to coincide with the opening of the global oil and gas exploration event in Aberdeen - Offshore Europe.

“We are also confident that timetable improvements between Manchester and Edinburgh and Glasgow will be popular with travellers, which together with our full service offering gives us a unique advantage over our competitor on the routes.

“bmi regional has a strong commitment to Aberdeen and Scotland. We are carrying more passengers and employing more staff than last year and we continue to enjoy double digit passenger growth in Aberdeen in particular.”

Aberdeen Airport managing director Kevin Brown added: "bmi regional has shown great commitment to its customers in the North East of Scotland by increasing its service to Manchester, making it the best-served UK destination from Aberdeen. I am delighted the airline also continues to seek new opportunities to provide new routes and destinations to provide local people with even more choice."

Using modern Embraer jet aircraft, passengers benefit from attractive business and economy fares and the renowned bmi regional service, which continues to offer complimentary in-flight refreshments to all onboard. Passengers can also take advantage of diamond club, the UK’s most generous frequent flyer programme.

bmi regional continues to be the UK’s most punctual airline, according to CAA published statistics, with 92 per cent of flights on time. Unrivalled punctuality and reliance in the air is matched with speed and efficiency on the ground with business lounge facilities and range of check-in options, including online or self-service check-in.
