bmi named UK's number one for punctuality

8th January 2008 Print
bmi regional has been named the UK’s most punctual airline for the first nine months of 2007, according to official statistics published by the CAA.

Ninety-one per cent of the airline’s flights were on time (within 15 minutes of departure) in the period January-September 2007 and delays averaged a time of just six minutes. bmi regional was in pole position at all of the surveyed UK airports from which it operates.

bmi regional has been a consistent top performer in the on-time stakes, having been named as the most punctual airline overall for 2005 and 2006. The airline is on track to retain the crown for a third successive year.

Over the same period, parent airline bmi also kept its crown as the UK’s most punctual airline out of Heathrow. The airline is third overall at the airport, 18 places ahead of its rival British Airways and 23 places ahead of Virgin Atlantic.

bmi regional managing director, Stewart Adams, said: “Punctuality is a top priority for the business traveller and is something we constantly strive for. It is the cornerstone of our success. Our customers have come to know and expect timely arrivals and departures and reliability as standard.

“Our staff across the network continue to work hard in maintaining and improving on our performance. We continue to lead the way and are determined to retain our number one status.”

bmi regional operates a fleet of modern Embraer jet aircraft, offers attractive business and economy fares and a renowned service, which continues to provide complimentary in-flight refreshments to all passengers. Unrivalled punctuality and reliance in the air is matched with speed and efficiency on the ground with business lounge facilities and a range of check-in options, including online or self-service check-in.
