Fine wine weekends

The April event entitled ’Three Centuries of Chateau Lafite Rothschild’ will be a rare chance to experience and enjoy more than twenty vintages of one of the world’s greatest wines with vintages spanning both ancient and young.
The series of tastings will be presented by Stephen Williams Managing Director and John Salvi Master of Wine of The Antique Wine Company accompanied by Charles Chevallier, Director of Chateau Lafite Rothschild. The finest vintages will be complemented by exceptional gastronomy, created by Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat’s new award winning chef Didier Aniès, all in the surroundings of one of the world’s most luxurious hotels situated on the French Riviera.
Among the weekend’s activities will be a masterclass featuring an unprecented vertical tasting of 10 contrasting Chateau Lafite Rothchild vintages between 1898 and present. The Chateau Lafite Rothschild Gastronomic Challenge Dinner with eight superb vintages of Chateau Lafite Rothschild, enhanced by a blind tasting challenge, will be another highlight of this exclusive event.
The event will also appeal to partners or guests of wine enthusiasts who may prefer a more general “principals of wine tasting” seminar designed to provide confidence in identifying quality factors in wine. Alternatively a private tour of two nearby historical palaces on the French Riviera, Villa Ephrussi Rothschild and its gardens and Villa Kerylos is another optional activity during the weekend.
Michel Galopin, General Manager at Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat, comments: “Our objective is to develop the hotel’s reputation as the international destination of fine wine excellence. The combination of an exceptional tasting of fine wines from Chateau Lafite Rothschild and gastronomy by our new chef, Didier Aniès, will be an unforgettable weekend on the French Riviera.”
Stephen Williams, Managing Director of The Antique Wine Company, comments: “We are delighted to be working in association with the Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat and to have the cooperation of the Rothschild family at this special event. It has been created to appeal to those looking for an memorable fine wine experience – a celebration of the wines of Chateau Lafite Rothschild – as well as an event for those with less or little wine knowledge who would like to learn more, and all in a very enjoyable way in this beautiful part of the French Riviera while staying at one of the world’s most luxurious hotels.”
A limited number of places are available for this exclusive weekend at a price of £1,900 (2,500 euros) per person to include all the fine wine activities, two champagne receptions, two gastronomic dinners, one gastronomic lunch and two nights accommodation with breakfast at Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat.
A non-residential package on Saturday 21st April is also available for £1,500 (2,000 euros) per person. A detailed programme for the ’Three Centuries of Chateau Lafite Rothschild Weekend Event’ can be viewed at lafite.antique-wine.com where further enquiries and reservations can also be made.
